I’m just here to have a ripe time.
The Brevard County Farmers Market is open every Thursday from 3 pm - 6 pm at Wickham Park in Melbourne.

It’s Mango Season!

It’s summer, and the much-anticipated mango season is quickly approaching! Although some growers say we may have a lower yield or a delayed harvest this year due to drought and storms during the blooming period, don’t worry, there will still be plenty of growers selling this delicious fruit in our area. The mango season in our part of Brevard County, Florida, typically runs from May through September, depending on the variety.1
If you’re up for an adventure and a drive, take the beautiful ride this summer down South Tropical Trail, located on the west side of Merritt Island. This road offers a long, winding ride that parallels the Indian River Lagoon. Many growers have signs for mangoes, small farm stands, and pop-ups to stop at along the way. Support your local growers, like Four Lions Fruit Farm, Nick's Island Tropical Fruit, Ensey Tropical Fruit Co., TropicalMangoes.com, and more!

Mango with Tomato Salsa Salmon

This diabetes-friendly Mango Salsa Salmon dish will have the whole family happy if they like fish, of course.2 Still have some of that amazing Alaskan salmon from Doug’s last visit? This flavorful dish is the perfect way to enjoy it! Not a fish fan? No worries, this fresh, zesty salsa also pairs beautifully with chicken or makes a bold topping for taco night!
Along with their magnificent taste, sweet tropical fruits like mangos also boast a long list of health benefits. Mangos are rich in vitamins, minerals, and natural fiber. They make a great addition to any meal, yogurt, or smoothie. These fruits can even help prevent certain types of cell-damaging diseases.3
Since mangos are high in antioxidants like mangiferin, a natural substance that protects cells from damage, eating them instead of processed foods can help lower the risk of illness.4 You can’t go wrong with picking up a few of these fresh, locally grown fruits while you can.
This Thursday, you'll find a wonderful array of fresh produce, local honey, baked goods, artisan olive oils, and so much more at the Brevard County Farmers Market. Come support your local growers and makers and taste the difference freshness makes! Four Lions Fruit Farm should be back soon with ripe mangos. E.T. Produce brings a large variety of vegetables and fruit, but come prepared because he only takes cash or EBT/FAB tokens.
